I have a set of 5 finicky foolers They are a blast to run early and late season, or anytime it’s not so cold out that the line on your reel is freezing up after a fish or two More and more of these warm ice days every year it seems… running strait fluorocarbon can reduce freeze up I like to run them with small okuma bait runner. This inline reel spooler elite has to be the most difficult reel i have ever tried to put line on period!! My fumble fingers and bad eyes trying to put 4lb test line on has me ready to toss the reel in the garbage can.
The long stem just seemed to make the combo too big if that makes sense, that reel sticking out so far just got in the way I fish with gloves a lot, but thinner gloves so i personally don't have a need for the long stem. Reel to grip methodsyou can see in the pic below i use rubber bands to hold the reel while taping That rod has two rubber bands on it because i didn't know if i was gonna like that reel on that rod However, when mounting a reel with tommy tape i will rubber band the back of the reel, and tape the front first Then remove the rubber band and tape the back I am looking at a 13 fishing wicked reel i am thinking of matching it with a 13 fishing 27 lite action rod
Does anyone have this set up And yes i know that 13 fishing makes a wicked ice rod that is probably meant to match up with reel I ran a pfluger president 6920 on it last year but moved that reel to an open water rod that needed a reel.
