However, work on how pornography use affects sexual satisfaction requires further study. As society grows more open about sexuality and pornography, debates over their effects have become more complex While some view pornography as a normal part of modern life, others raise concerns about its psychological, relational, and societal consequences This growing openness has led to increased confusion, with conflicting perspectives on how porn influences behavior and relationships. Our informants recognise that pornography reproduces and promotes patriarchal discourses of sexuality, but they manage to use it to reach a state of pleasure (exercise of fantasy, sexual gratification) and perfection (optimal way of performing sex) We also show pornography’s role in cultivating a renewed understanding of female sexuality.
Sexuality and sexual orientation sexuality is an inborn person’s capacity for sexual feelings (griffiths et al Normative standards about sexuality are different throughout the world Cultural codes prescribe sexual behaviors as legal, normal, deviant, or pathological (kottak and kozaitis 2012) In the united states, people have restrictive attitudes about premarital sex, extramarital. In 1967, all pornographic text material was legalized, followed by the legalization of all visual pornography in 1969 (hald, 2007) Both before and after this legalization process, the effects of pornography were hotly debated
A methodological and theoretical critique of the “negative effects paradigm” within psychology, and social science research more broadly, was developed, and this chapter provides a critical account of traditional research on pornography and foregrounds new.
