A lot of people have issues with boost and exhaust leaks on their 7.3 turbos This will rob power and make your turbo not run right. The oem “donut” gaskets used to seal these pipes are known for breaking down over time As they deteriorate, they allow exhaust gas to escape before reaching the turbocharger—significantly reducing boost pressure Soot buildup behind the turbo. I have a 1997 f350
The 7.3 has a 3 down pipe, intake and exhaust I have a few questions First, how much boost should the turbo be putting out at wot Also, what is the high end of the egt spectrum, when should i be concerned And what is the best way to check my up pipe for leaks This will rob power and make your turbo not run right
Here is a few tricks to help fix the issue Check out 7.3 powerstroke turbos Im fairly new to diesel trucks so go easy on me please.
