(fig 1) without removing any parts, tighten the packing nut behind the handle One of my woodford 17 outside spigots was leaking from the top When i went to remove the old one it was totally gunked with mineral deposits Used vinegar and backing soda and a toothbrush and it loosened up enough to use channel locks to get it started. How do i get the plastic cover off and can this part of the faucet be repaired If so, are there any special methods that need to be used to effect the repair?
It's rarely a quick fix, and often involves several steps of troubleshooting.
