And the word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only son from the father, full of grace and truth. For god so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. The phrase “only begotten son” occurs in john 3:16, which reads in the king james version as, for god so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For though ye have ten thousand instructors in christ, yet [have ye] not many fathers For in christ jesus i have begotten you through the gospel In this was manifested the love of god toward us, because that god sent his only begotten son into the world, that we might live through him.
For god did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
